About
Classes
Ten weekly 45-minute classes include songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. These activities are presented as non formal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences--developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers--regardless of their own musical ability. In addition, as part of your tuition you will receive one CD, a login code to access online resources, music activity book and parent guide so you can continue the musical experience throughout the week.
Nonformal Instruction
A Music Together® class is not a 'music lesson'. Children are given the freedom to participate as they choose and according to their developmental level. The class experience is reinforced by parent involvement, encouraging continued learning at home through play.
Mixed Ages (birth to five)
Educators have long considered mixed-age grouping to be beneficial. Our activities focus on adult/child interaction, so children of different ages can enjoy classes together. (A sibling discount is available to encourage full family involvement).
Positive Benefits
Music Together classes nourish a family's efforts to create a rich and joyful musical environment at home. Parents will bring new understanding to support their child's lifelong love of music.
Music Together Philosophy
The Music Together program encourages your child's innate ability to sing in tune, create rhythms and participate in music making with joy and confidence. You, the parent or caregiver's participation, regardless of your own musical background, is inspirational for children to develop musically.
Musical participation is not based on talent, but on exposure and experience at a young age. Exposure at a young age brings confidence with music throughout life. Enrichment means starting musical experience at birth.
Giving children and parents access to music offers the culture as a whole an opportunity to be more attuned to and appreciative of music and the arts in general.
General Information
Did you know that all children are musical?
Have you ever wondered what you can do to nurture the musical growth of your child, regardless of you own musical ability?
Experience Music Together and find out how important--and how fun--your role can be!
Music Together is based on the premise that all children are musical and parents/caregivers play a crucial role in activating and nurturing their child’s musical development. Classes include songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. Activities are playful, non-performance-oriented musical experiences - developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers - regardless of their own musical ability. Best of all, it’s fun!
In the years before recorded music many people entertained themselves by making their own music. Singing songs and playing music together was as common as having family dinner. Children learned to participate in the fun by watching and listening to Mom and Dad, Aunts and Uncles, Grandmas and Granddads, neighbors and friends, making music simply for their enjoyment.
Times have changed. Today we have a wealth of ways to consume music; compact discs, radio, music television, ipods, are just a few. While these are wonderful forms of entertainment there is no substitution for actually participating in the creating of music. This is especially true for children because children learn by observing those who love them and by doing. With this in mind, our classes include parent or caregiver involvement and a variety of engaging activities.
Music Together exposes children to a rich assortment of music that they would not ordinarily hear. The development of basic music competency is encouraged by introducing the building blocks of music through tonal and rhythm pattern play. Sharing this class with your child is a wonderful way to bond and create lifetime memories, as well as meet other people.
